Urla is Especially Beautiful in Spring

Urla is Especially Beautiful in Spring

Why Urla in Spring?

Urla's biggest festival, the International Urla Artichoke Festival (late April), and herb festivals take place during this season. The weather is neither too hot to make you sweat nor too cold to make you shiver; it's the perfect time to drive with the top down or with the windows down, breathing in the Aegean air.

Rental Car Recommendations for Urla

Urla's roads are generally smooth, but some roads leading to vineyards and pristine bays may be narrow and unpaved. Segment Selection: If you are only going to visit the vineyards and the art street, an Economy (B-Class) vehicle (Renault Clio, VW Polo, etc.) will both save fuel and offer easy parking in narrow streets. Enjoyment Choice: If your budget allows, Crossover/SUV models (Dacia Sandero Stepway, Peugeot 2008) are ideal for enjoying spring, offering both high driving pleasure and ample trunk space (for artichokes and wine you'll buy from the local market!).

Where to Rent?

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is only 45 minutes from Urla. Picking up your car from the airport is much more sensible than paying a transfer fee to Urla.

Spring Driving Route to Urla

If your car is at your door, enjoy Urla with this route: 1. Urla Wine Route This route, located between Urla center and Kuşçular village, is home to world-famous wineries. You can reach these modern facilities by driving through cypress-lined roads, enjoy tastings (be careful if you're driving!), and bask in the spring sunshine with cheese platters. 2. Art Street and Pier Park your car in a parking lot near the center and explore the antique shops of Art Street. Then, head to Urla Pier and take a break for fresh fish or the famous "katmer" (a type of pastry) by the sea. 3. Barbaros Village and Oyuklar Barbaros, one of Urla's most characteristic villages, is known for its tranquility and the "Oyuk" (Scarecrow) Festival. Getting there without a car is quite difficult. You can buy fresh herbs from local producers in the village. 4. Demircili and Azmak Bay Even though the sea is still cold in spring, the views of these bays are captivating. Reached via a winding but pleasant road, these spots are wonderful stops for picnics or reading a book.
