Hamamonu
Behind Ankara's modern skyline lies a special corner where time flows slowly, and history whispers from the bay windows of houses: Hamamönü. Located in the Altındağ district, this historical neighborhood is Ankara's most vibrant open-air museum, proving that it is not only the capital but also a bearer of a deep-rooted cultural heritage.

A Journey Through Time in the Heart of Ankara: Hamamönü

Hamamönü takes its name from the historical Karacabey Bathhouse, built in 1440. This area, which houses some of the most elegant examples of 19th-century Ottoman civil architecture, has been rescued from ruin through extensive restoration projects and transformed into one of Ankara's most popular tourist and cultural centers.

Architectural Texture and Street Culture
What makes Hamamönü special are its traditional Ankara houses, each meticulously restored with white walls and wooden decorations. These houses line the narrow streets, giving visitors a sense of old Istanbul or Safranbolu.

Art Street:
This is one of the most important points reflecting the spirit of the region. Here you can see the workshops of artists engaged in traditional handicrafts, and witness the practice of arts such as marbling, calligraphy, and illumination.
